Rihanna’s dad feels sorry for Chris Brown

Rihanna’s father says he has forgiven her former boyfriend Chris Brown, who brutally attacked the singer two years ago.

Tamara Hardingham-Gill writes that Ronald Fenty, 57, says he ‘feels sorry’ for the R&B star who was sentenced to 180 days of community service and five years probation for assaulting Rihanna, 22, before the Grammy Awards in 2009.

“It was really tough seeing the pictures of her beaten up,” he said. “But I have forgiven him.”

“He has lost so much from one stupid mistake. So me making him feel even worse makes no sense. I feel sorry for him now.”

Ronald fell out with his daughter after he spoke to the media about the assault, but the pair have since reconciled.

He also revealed the moment he discovered his daughter’s talent for singing.

“The first time I heard her sing she was three years old, lying on her bed with a hairbrush for a microphone,” he said.

“Then, when she was seven, I heard her singing with our neighbour and I was amazed. She was doing the Aladdin song A Whole New World. It was so pretty I couldn’t believe it.”

“I made sure she went to school and did well,” he added. “She liked to dance and had natural rhythm but she wasn’t doing all the school productions and stuff. So her success came a bit out of the blue.’
